Artist Statement

Danielle Flowers is inspired by the primitive connections and relationship of material and process, striving to create balance and harmony between material qualities and their aesthetic values. Inspired by mid-century modern design and the raw elements. Flowers engages with the rhythmic and meditative process of woodturning, with the aim of preserving traditional craft processes, whilst highlighting the importance of contemporary British craftsmanship. Demonstrating the power of the handmade, by following the journey of creation from raw element to outcome, emphasising the multidisciplinary nature of craft-based skills.

Advocating traditional British craftsmanship, Flowers sources hardwoods directly from sustainably managed woodlands in Shropshire; milling, processing, and forming the timber in house. Each hand turned element juxtaposes the unique grains of British hardwoods, with the refined forms of 925 sterling silver. Crafting affordable collections of minimal jewellery, home décor and timeless statement pieces.
